Harris House takes the coronavirus threat very seriously and has taken many precautions to keep our clients and our community safe. Here is how we are handling treatment during this critical time in Phase II of the Covid crisis.
- Detox and Intensive Inpatient– These levels of care of critical care remain open as usual. Counseling staff remains committed to providing the best program and service available anywhere. We use a high level of screening for new admissions to maintain the safest environment possible.
Family group is conducted every Wednesday evening and Saturday via telehealth. Family visitation is encouraged on Thursday and Sunday evenings.
Regular temperature-taking of staff and clients is mandatory. All staff wear masks in all public areas. Cleaning of premises is greatly upgraded and constantly done, HVAC system was adjusted for maximum fresh air with outside doors open regularly for airing out the building, cafeteria serving was modified with safety/distancing changes.
Group sessions are spread out for 6′ distancing, many groups are held outdoors to improve Covid-19 safety, new clients are grouped for maximum initial isolation, new client screening held in larger rooms to increase safety for staff and clients, medication dispersing protocol was modified to utilize larger rooms for distancing, etc. Admissions are available 7 days a week. We have had no Covid-19 positives in Detox or Intensive Inpatient.
- Partial Hospitalization– This level of care remains open 5 days a week Monday through Friday, 6 hours per day 9am to 4pm, on St. Charles premises.
- Intensive Outpatient– This level of care remains open on St Charles premises. Intensive Outpatient meets Monday, Wednesday, Friday, from 9am to 12 noon, is reimbursable by insurance.
- South Broadway– Transitional Housing is fully operational but not currently accepting new admissions during Phase II of Covid pandemic, except for graduating clients from Harris House St. Charles Programs.
